I argued against supporting two separate platforms that accomplish the same goal. I argued for making the desktop site responsive to replace and sunset the jQueryMobile application. My arguments won the day.
Bite Squad’s goal at that point was to have a good, solid, manageable software product to support their business. They hired talented, experienced developers to do that. They realized somewhere along the line afterward that the effort was not worth it.
A lot of my time at Bite Squad was spent streamlining the food ordering process on our desktop and mobile websites. The foodify project was one of the most significant development efforts undertaken for desktop.
When I decided it was time to start looking for a new opportunity post W2O Group, I really wanted a centralized place that I could keep tabs on the jobs I’d applied for and the potential jobs found that I might yet apply to. Job Apps is a standalone application that will help you stay organized while seeking employment. I find it super helpful… and you can too!
A standalone CoffeeScript program was created to spit out an array terrible bands and random numbers meant to represent individual tweet mentions of said terrible bands. The kata task was to create a framework to initiate the script, then handle and animate the resulting live stream using the comps provided. I chose to employ a prototype-based JavaScript solution.
MasterCard required ongoing maintenance to the existing Newsroom while developing their new project: The Engagement Bureau. I acted as release manager, overseeing several other developers all the while debugging and performing maintenance on other projects.
Purdue Pharma needed a better way to feature advocates for pain management and therapies on the site. Prior to this scope of work being approved, existing meta such as Voices of Hope (audio interviews), Advocate Perspectives (videos), and Stories of Inspiration (interview transcripts) were spread across several pages. I collected the meta and associated it with its respective advocate. Custom WordPress back-end queries were fed via Ajax to mustache templates on the front-end.
I build a custom WordPress plugin that collects and disseminates weather data from the National Weather Service API by cron and renders a local forecast for Fredericksburg, TX.
I save all of my expenses to my budget site. It boasts an easy-to-use interface and can import all expense activity from CSVs that I download from my bank. Overage tabs appear when I’m over budget for a category or subcategory for a given month. Graphs and charts can be plotted for any (sub)category over any range of dates. The admin area provides tools for editing purchases.
The SunnyD Book Spree is a program that offers books to classrooms in exchange for UPC labels. I created a stand-alone site in time for the 2012 fall semester that was consistent with the look and feel of the main flash-driven site they had at the time.
The Valero Texas Open is one of the oldest tournaments on the PGA Tour. Following the 2012 tournament, I created an image gallery to show off pictures from the tour and associated events. The easiest way for the client to upload and manage their media was to employ a separate Flickr account. There, they organized and tagged their images as they saw fit. All media was later pulled into the site via cron job requests to the Flickr API. Once published, the imagery would automatically be grouped into the proper album.
